The Challenge

Bottle the energy of a room that exists for one night

NextUp Cincinnati is the local chapter of a national nonprofit advancing women in business. Once a year, the chapter fills a ballroom for its Fall Premier — a keynote, a fireside conversation, and a few hundred professionals pushing each other to feel the fear and do it anyway.

The trouble with a night like that is the energy is real, and then it's gone.

You get one take. No reset, no second night. The film and the photos have to make someone who wasn't in the room feel it anyway — and make next year's invitation sell itself.

The Approach

Two jobs at once — and never miss the moment

We worked the Fall Premier as a film crew and a photo team at the same time. One eye roaming for the candid beats — the handshake, the laugh mid-keynote, the table that wouldn't stop talking. The other locked on the main stage for the fireside chat and the speakers.

Documentary instinct over staging. You anticipate the moment; you don't ask for it twice.

In the edit, we matched the pacing and color to NextUp's brand and the energy in the room. The chapter walked away with a highlight film that moves — and a gallery they can use all year.
