AI Visibility Audit · by AmeriFilms

When someone asks AI about your business, what does it say?

More buyers now start with ChatGPT than with Google. We ran this test for our own clients — most of them weren’t in the answer. Find out whether yours is.

    Tell us who you are

Five fields, sixty seconds. Business, website, one sentence about what you do, city, email.

    02

    We interrogate the engines

Dozens of real buyer questions, each asked four times — from memory and with live web search.

    03

The receipts land in your inbox

One score, the competitors named instead of you, and the AI’s answers word for word. Within 24 hours.

    Scene 01 The shift

The search box changed. Most businesses didn’t notice.

For twenty years, being found meant ranking on Google. Page one, or nowhere.

That game is ending. Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity for recommendations — and the AI gives one answer, not ten blue links. Either you’re in that answer, or your competitor is.

We built this audit because we kept running the test for our own clients. The results were blunt. Established companies with years of history and hundreds of happy customers — and the AI had never heard of them.

    Scene 02 The evidence

    The receipts do the talking.

From a real audit we ran in July 2026 for a Dayton-area business — established, respected, with a working website:

We asked: “Who are the top-rated providers in the Dayton area?”

“Some well-regarded options include [Competitor 1] and [Competitor 2]. Both handle downsizing and relocation…”

We asked: “What is [their business]?”

“I don’t have specific information about a company or organization by this name in my training data…”

Twenty-one competitors got named across the test. The business we audited wasn’t one of them — not once from memory. That’s what a 14.5 looks like.

    Scene 03 The report

    Four questions. One honest score.

You get one score, four sub-scores, and the receipts — the real AI answers, word for word. Here’s what lands in your report:

    14.5
    Overall · graded on a 0–100 band

    One honest score

Every question asked four times per engine, averaged. The score reflects the pattern, not one lucky run.

    What AI remembers vs. finds

The same question, asked two ways. The gap between the numbers is your published footprint — or the lack of one.

    • Competitor A15 mentions
    • Competitor B13 mentions
    • Competitor C12 mentions

    Who gets named instead

Every competitor the AI recommended in your place, with mention counts. This list stings — usefully.

“I don’t have specific information about this business…”

    The verbatim answers

Exactly what the AI said about you — including the silence. No summaries, no softening.

    Accuracy flags

An AI that describes your business wrong can cost you more than one that doesn’t know you. We flag it loudly.

Who AI trusts in your market

The sources the engines actually cite in your category. The domains citing your competitors are your gap list.

    Scene 04 Why it happens

    AI doesn’t guess. It cites.

These engines build their answers from what’s been published about you — press, reviews, structured pages, and increasingly, video with real transcripts and chapters that machines can read.

No published story means no citation. No citation means no recommendation. The businesses winning in AI search aren’t gaming an algorithm. They’re the ones whose story exists somewhere worth citing.

“As long as the lion doesn’t tell his own version, the story of the hunter will always glorify the hunter.”

We built our studio on that proverb. In AI search, it’s literal: tell your story somewhere worth citing, or live in the hunter’s version. That’s fixable. It’s what we do.

    Scene 05 Who’s behind this

    Built by AmeriFilms

We’re a Dayton-based film studio. We’ve spent years telling the stories of founders and companies — documentary-style films that build the kind of credibility both people and machines recognize.

We built this audit as a diagnostic, not a product. It shows you where you stand. What you do next is up to you — and if you want help, we’ll walk you through your report on a free 20-minute call.

    Questions

    Is this really free?

Yes. The audit and report cost nothing. If you want help acting on it, that’s a separate conversation — and it’s your call.

Which AI engines do you test?

Claude and Perplexity today — one answering from memory, one from live search. We ask each question multiple times because AI answers vary; your score reflects the pattern, not one lucky run. Results are directionally consistent with what buyers see on ChatGPT and Gemini.

My score is low. Now what?

Book the free review that comes with your report. We’ll show you which gaps matter, which don’t, and what closing them would actually take. No pitch deck, no pressure.

Either you’re in the answer, or your competitor is.

Find out which — free, with the receipts to prove it.
